What's Your Vision?
Group Study Week 1 – Introduction
Objective: To open up thoughts about your ‘vision’.
To prepare for this session, read the Prologue and Introduction in Bring Your Vision to Life. This first week is introductory, giving an opportunity to think about your dreams and desires. We will go into greater depth on this in the coming weeks. This session also helps you explore how your spirituality connects with the world around you..
Exercises
1.1 Group leader gives opening thoughts.
1.2 Spend some minutes on your own to answer the following questions:
· What is it that you want most? (This is a question that Jesus asked in Matthew 20:21).
· Describe your ‘gifting’, your uniqueness which includes such things as: your distinct abilities, your temperament.
· How you perceive and react to the brokenness in the world?
· Where and how do you experience your greatest joys?
· If you could describe your ideal day, what would it look like?
· Do you feel that your current life activities are what you were created to do? Totally? Partially? If not, why?
· What is your core spiritual belief and how does that practically work out in your life?
1.3 Break up into groups of two and share your answers. The other person will act as a consultant and confidant, asking you questions about your answers to the above questions. Then reverse roles, spending between ten to fifteen minutes for each person.
1.4 Meet back in the larger group and share any insights you’ve gained. Remember that this information is confidential, and no one should be forced to share anything they don’t wish to.
· What did you learn through this exercise?
· Did it help you to consider anything new, such as your gifting and/or your spirituality?
· Does your ideal day differ from your current average day? If not, why not?
· Is there something more you would like to be doing with your life or something new to try or explore?
1.5 During the following week work through days 1 to 7 in this book
